The results are in from a recent cleanup in a Carter County community.
Keep Carter County Beautiful Director Ed Jordan tells News Channel 11 over 35 volunteers filled three 40-yard roll-off dumpsters with 17,520 pounds of trash on Teaberry Road as the result of illegal dumping.
Jordan says some of the items that were picked up were 12 five gallon cans of paint thinner, television sets, couches, a mattress, refrigerators, and building materials.
Jordan says several people made this cleanup possible, including Carter County Landfill Director Benny Lyons and Carter County Commissioners Layla Ward, Patty Woodby and Mike Hill.
Other volunteers included Tri-City Jeep Club, Elizabeth Woodby, Beverly Margle and Appalachian Trail hikers.
