A North Knoxville club will be closed under state nuisance law after a woman was inadvertently killed in a shooting in its parking lot.

The Vibe nightclub, located at 2630 North Broadway in Knoxville, will be shuttered as of Thursday, April 4. The closure comes at the order of Judge Bob McGee based on gang activity, shootings and extremely violent behavior occurring at the club.

“We’ve stepped in and closed this club to prevent further violence from occurring at this property,” Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen said.

A Knoxville woman was killed early Sunday morning after a number of shots rang out at a North Knoxville nightclub.

According to witnesses in the car with her, Jesse Roberts, 25, had stopped at Krystal, 2815 N. Broadway, and while sitting at the drive-thru window, was hit by a bullet that came from the direction of The Vibe nearby.

Roberts was taken to UT Medical Center where she died from her injuries.  A GoFundMe for the victim’s 7-year-old son was started by the victim’s mother.

Knox County DA Charme Allen said Thursday that the 21-year-old shot on New Year’s Day and later died was shot at ‘The Vibe’.
