Normal operations have resumed at Y-12 National Security in Oak Ridge after emergency response personnel responded to a chemical leak.
According to a new release, Y-12 emergency response personnel are at the scene of the incident. Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) official are directing response efforts.
The incident occurred at 7:52 AM. According to a tweet from Y-12 NSC, a chemical leak took place within a processing enclosure.
There are no injuries related to the incident.
Precautionary protective actions have been taken for Y-12 employees who are in the vicinity of the incident but not involved in the emergency response.
Y-12 officials say at this time, there is no offsite impact to the public as a result of the incident.
