No charges filed in youth football altercation, sanctions in place for private league


WISE, VA (WJHL) — An altercation last month at a youth football game in Southwest Virginia has resulted in no charges being filed against those involved, according to a press release from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office.

The altercation happened on the field of Central High School on September 29th.

The teams involved in the  altercation are part of a private league and not connected to the Wise County or Dickenson County school system, but are allowed to use the field and adjoining facilities for games.

League officials have instituted the following sanctions against four individuals involved. Those sanctions include: One participant receiving indefinite suspension from the league, two receiving a 5 game suspension and one receiving a 2 game suspension.
