A former volunteer police chaplain accused of child rape is now facing even more charges.

A Washington County grand jury charged Anthony Dale Padgett with 12 counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and other charges.

Padgett is already in jail on harassment, aggravated stalking, and solicitation of first-degree murder charges.

The latest charges are part of an ongoing investigation. In December, Padgett was charged with statutory rape by an authority figure and solicitation of a minor.

Investigators say on January 2 they added a charge of second violation of an order of protection.

Just a few days ago, the sheriff’s office charged Padgett with solicitation for first-degree murder for allegedly approaching other inmates in an attempt to find a hitman to kill the person he is accused of raping as a minor.

Padgett is a former volunteer chaplain for the Johnson City Police Department, although JCPD says he was minimally involved with the department.
