One year following its revival, the Mount Carmel Block Party will return for its 31st year next weekend.
This year’s celebration will take place on Main Street in Mount Carmel on Saturday, July 7 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The event has become a Northeast Tennessee tradition. For years, the block party has marked the start of Kingsport’s annual summer festival, Fun Fest.
Last year, the block party was revived following a two year hiatus.
The event will start at 4 p.m. with the presentation of flags and singing of the National Anthem.
Concerts will start at 4:30 p.m. with performances by Railway Express, Stone Creek Four, The Benny Wilson Band, and Asylum Suite on the big stage. Matt “Elvis” Dollar and his Million Dollar Band will perform on the small stage during set changes.
The Kidz Zone will feature inflatables, games, and more. At dusk, an outdoor showing of the movie Sherlock Gnomes will begin.
Other activities at this year’s block party will include the popular car show, Miss Mount Carmel 2018 Contest, and wrestling.
A fireworks show will begin at 9:45 p.m.
