Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash near Tri-Cities Airport

A Johnson City man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after a motorcycle crash near the Tri-Cities Airport.

It happened around 3 p.m. on State Route 75 near Herron Lane. 

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling north on SR 75 at a high rate of speed when it slammed into the back of a Toyota Corolla. 

The motorcyclist, 20-year-old Erik W. Roark of Johnson City, was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport with life-threatening injuries according to THP. The driver of Toyota was not injured. 

THP says charges against Roark are pending.
