Yhorman Prieto of Caracas, Venezuela, is the first signee for Milligan College’s newly established eSports program. Prieto is a diamond level player for League of Legends, signifying he is among the top 4.25 percent of players in the United States for League of Legends.

“I am excited to bring Yhorman to the team,” Head Coach Micah Ridley said. “He brings great experience for League of Legends and is a great player to build around. He also has experience being on traditional sports teams so he understands the ins and outs of working with a team, which is valuable in the emerging eSports scene at the collegiate level.”

Ridley noted Prieto stood out in the recruiting process through his commitment to better himself as a player and person. Ridley said Prieto’s willingness to listen and overall coachability were among his best qualities. He also noted Prieto will be a tremendous asset due to his flexibility, as he can play different roles and allow the team to have a more dynamic roster.

“Prieto works to sharpen his strengths and improve his weaknesses,” Ridley said. “He is self-motivated and wants to make those around him better. These are all things I look for in a player.”

Ridley joined Milligan’s athletics staff in January to launch the college’s eSports program.

“A diamond level player coming in as the first recruit sets a great tone for the upcoming season and the program’s recruiting effort,” said Ridley.

Milligan joins King University as another of the region’s postsecondary schools with an eSports team.
