DENTON VALLEY, TN (WJHL) — A long awaited water project in the Denton Valley community of Sullivan County is just weeks away from bringing clean drinking water to dozens of homes.
A ribbon cutting took place today at the 19th District Water System Project.
Federal grant money for the project almost expired in 2013, but state lawmakers were prompted to take further action after a News Channel 11 investigation revealed E-coli in well water.
The new water pumping station will bring clean water to more than 115 homes — more than 10 years after the project first began.
The three and a half million dollar project also includes a $150,000 water storage tank.
