Kingsport’s D-BExcel won an award at the 2018 M.A.T.E. (Marine Advanced Technology Education) International underwater robotics competiton in Seattle, Washington. 

This comes after winning the regional competition in April held at the Kingsport Aquatic Center

The first year team who calls themselves the R-Matey’s, won an engineering design award for their hydraulic system. 

Kingsport will host next year’s M.A.T.E International competition at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.
