Local congressmen weigh in on Mueller Report

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL)- Sunday afternoon Attorney General William Barr sent a letter to Congress summarizing the finding of the Mueller probe.

According to that letter, evidence gathered in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that President Donald Trump committed obstruction of justice.

News Channel 11 spoke with Congressman Morgan Griffith over the phone Sunday evening, and he said he wasn’t surprised by the findings.

It’s what I expected all along, it’s good to have a report in. Two years of investigation, dozens of people working on it, millions of dollars spent, if there was evidence of collusion, the American people need to know that. I never believed there was, but now we know for certain, Griffith said.

U.S. Congressman Dr. Phil Roe of Northeast Tennessee sent the following statement regarding Special Counsel Muellerโ€™s Report:

โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹I am pleased the Mueller report has been completed. All Americans should be glad that the report concluded there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. After 2 years and $25 million, I am hopeful Congress can now turn its full attention to the agenda our constituents sent us to do, including growing our economy, protecting our homeland, and supporting our veterans.โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹  Rep. Phil Roe

President Trump also weighed in on the findings in a Twitter post Sunday.
