Liz Cheney to serve as keynote speaker for Johnson City event

Washington County Republican Party Chairman Dr. Turney Williams announced this week that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) will serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner.  

The event serves as a GOP fundraiser and will be held June 14th at the Millennium Center in Johnson City.  

Cheney, the former vice president’s daughter, was elected to Congress in 2016 and was chosen by her party colleagues after the 2018 elections to serve as House Republican Conference Chair, the third-highest position in the GOP House leadership behind Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). She is the third woman to hold the position. 

Prior to her election to Congress, Cheney was a Fox News Contributor and served at the State Department as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East. A specialist in national security and foreign policy, she co-authored, along with her father Vice President Dick Cheney, Exceptional: Why The World Needs a Powerful America.
