SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – One person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment after a fire destroyed a Scott County, Virginia home.
According to Chief Bruce Cross of the Weber City Volunteer Fire Department, crews were called to the fire on Rising Star Lane around 4:30 a.m.
The Gate City Fire Department provided support at the scene.
Cross said the homeowner was taken to the hospital by family members. No other injuries were reported.
The scene is clear as of 9 a.m., but Cross says crews have equipment ready in case the fire rekindles.
The fire was contained to the home. Cross told News Channel 11 the home is destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
