LEGACY OF LOGAN: Hampton High presents inaugural memorial scholarship

The legacy of a former Hampton High School multi-sport athlete will be forever remembered. 

School officials in Carter County were able to present the inaugural Logan Andrews Memorial Scholarship this week to graduating Hampton High School student Alex Hardin. 

The scholarship was established to remember the life of 2010 HHS graduate Logan Andrews, who passed away last year from a heart condition. 

Members of the Andrews family was present for the scholarship presentation. 

To create the scholarship, organizers held a fishing tournament on Watauga Lake earlier this month. 

FISHING FOR A CAUSE: Nearly $3K raised for ‘Logan Andrews Scholarship’

Event organizer David Brumitt tells News Channel 11 that this year’s event raised $3,900 

Brumitt says the plan is to keep the fishing tournament and scholarship as an annual tradition. The scholarship will be $2,000.

This year’s remaining funds will be carried over for future presentations.
