LEE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A Lee County man was arrested on federal charges, and his arrest led to authorities seizing cash and illegal drugs.
According to a social media post from the Lee County Virginia Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Jimmy Shupe, of Pennington Gap, Virginia, was arrested after a deputy received information that he was in the Dryden area.
Shupe was already wanted on a federal capias charge.
Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons said that Shupe was renting a room at the location, and the investigating deputy found Shupe sitting on the bathroom floor with at loaded syringe lying nearby.
After searching Shupe, officials found methamphetamine in his pockets.
Shupe also had over $800 in his pocket.
The search of the room revealed more methamphetamine, narcotic pills, scales, baggies and other illegal drug paraphernalia.
Authorities seized 21 grams of methamphetamine.
Shupe was charged with possession of a Schedule II Narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia.
More charges will be pursued at a later date when lab analysis results come back.
Shupe is being held in the Duffield Regional jail without bond, with a hold from federal authorities.
