KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL)- Officials with the Kingsport Police Department are asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted for aggravated animal cruelty.
According to Kingsport Police, officers responded to a home on Cooks Valley Road on Saturday after a concerned citizen complained the front door had been partially open for about a week.
When officers arrived, they found the door was open and there was a ‘putrid odor’ coming from inside.
Officers would then discover what appeared to be remains of a dog in a back bedroom.
They also discovered the skeleton of a second dog in the backyard.
Kingsport Police identified the person who lived at that home as Benjamin R. Vaness.
Officers scheduled to meet with Vaness the next day at the home, but he never showed.
Vaness is now wanted on two counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty, which is a Class E felony.
