UPDATE (10:45 p.m.) Kingsport Police Department say they believe the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center is “believed to have been rendered safe.”

According to the release, normal business routines are in effect at the hotel, with the exception of the one hallway where the shooting incident occurred.

KPD is asking people stay away from the facility unless they have a specific need to be there.

No further details are being released at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Kingsport Police are looking for the suspect in a shooting that happened at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center Saturday evening.

According to a release, KPD was notified of the incident about 7:30 p.m.

KPD said at least one person was shot. The victim has been transported to an area health care facility for medical treatment.

According to KPD, the suspect is still at large and is believed to have already left the scene.

Witnesses sent photos to News Channel 11 via Twitter, showing a search of the hotel by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

News Channel 11 was alerted to the developing situation at MeadowView about 8 p.m. Crews at the scene saw KPD officers, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol blocking traffic at the conference center.

News Channel 11’s Sara Diamond reported officers were not letting anyone out of the convention center, where Dancing with the Tri-Cities Stars was underway. 

Those inside the hotel reported a message was read over an intercom system, asking everyone to stay where they were.

KPD asks anyone not at the facility to stay away from the area to allow the police to investigate without interference.
