Kingsport Police urge people not to call the department to ask about times for trick or treating

Kingsport Police issued a news release saying they are getting numerous 911 calls from people wanting to know the time to go trick or treating and urge people to call dispatchers for emergency purposes only.

Patton said Kingsport Police have no way to answer the question about when you should trick-or-treat, but most people will be out between 5-8pm next Wednesday.

Kingsport police will be increasing the number of officers in the community on Halloween to ensure safe trick or treating.

They also encourage citizens to participate in organized events like trunk-or-treats instead of going door to door.

A list of Halloween events can be found here.
