Police are asking for the public’s help after two people were found dead inside a crashed vehicle.

According to the Kingsport Police Department, a passing motorist noticed a red 2015 Kia Rio on its top underneath the Interstate 81 overpass at Lynn Road around 6 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators responded and found the driver, Rosalyn Maria Waddle, 37 of Hampton, Virginia, and a passenger, Kimberlee A. Dietz, 36 of Williamsburg, Virginia, dead inside the vehicle. Police noticed the vehicle’s engine was cold and were unable to determine when the crash happened.

Investigators determined the car was traveling south on I-81 when it entered the median, became airborne, flipped end-over-end, and landed upside down on an embankment on the opposite side of Lynn Road.

Kingsport police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have any information about the incident to come forward. You can reach investigators by calling 423-224-2750. Anonymous tips may be submitted online
