A judge has ruled a Kingsport nightclub where a man was shot and killed must be torn down, according to the chancery court.
The Hog Wild Saloon was donated to the non-profit group Engage Tri-Cities, which wanted to transform the building into a place where people can train for and find jobs.
The club was the scene of a fatal shooting earlier this year. Police say 16-year-old Raynard Newkirk shot and killed 20-year-old Brett Rodgers.
Following the shooting, Kingsport building officials went through Hog Wild and reported several safety violations. The city ordered the building’s then-owner to tear it down.
Engage Tri-Cities asked the judge if they could renovate the property, but the judge ruled against their request.
