By spring a local elementary school hopes to have a new playground, but it needs volunteers to make the dream a reality.

Andrew Johnson Elementary School, in Kingsport, says their original playground — called “The Castle” — was torn down last month. That playground was built nearly three decades ago in 1990.

Now the school says excitement is building for a new project that will allow the imagination of its students to shine.

Kingsport City Schools is asking for volunteeers to  help build the new community playground. Its design was inspired by the creativity of students, says KCS.

The build will take place from March 5th to March 10th at Andrew Johnson Elementary.
