KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL)- Dozens of people gathered Monday at the Kingsport Police Department to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The annual law enforcement memorial service remembers those who died in the line of duty.
This year officials read the name of SCSO Sgt. Steve Hinkle.
Sgt. Hinkle served with the sheriff’s office for 27 years.
He was shot in the line of duty on February 23 and died three days later.
Officials not only remembered the lives of local fallen officers but also fallen officers across the nation.
The service was open to the public.
