The funny thing is Katherine Stephenson became a teacher by chance. She wanted to be a translator so after graduating college she needed a way to make money for translator school so she decided to teach. She loved it and stuck with it
She’s been in the classroom for more then 20 years. She teaches more then 70 students per day at Sullivan Central High School. She originally taught spanish 1 and 2 to help students with the mandetory requirement. When asked several years ago by school administration she offered her skills as a French Teacher as well. Now for the first time in school history students can take French 1, 2, and 3 as wll.
“I enjoy giving the kids a choice and up until this administration they only ha one choice because foreign language teachers are so hard to find. The only choice was to take spanish. By a little extra effort on our part we’ve ben able to teach them French as well as Spanish,” Said Stephenson
Congratulations Katherine Stephenson. This week’s Educator of the Week.
