UPDATE: JCPD: Dead man found near East State of Franklin may have been involved in ‘unlawful tagging activities’

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – UPDATE – New information has been released regarding the body found along East State of Franklin on the railroad tracks in Johnson City Sunday.

According to a release from the Johnson City Police Department, officers responded to a call on Sunday in reference to a death investigation.

The release says that the initial investigation reveals the male subject may have been involved in “unlawful tagging activities to the overpass.”

As of now, the identity of the male subject is being withheld pending notification to his family.

JCPD is asking any potential witnesses to contact them at (423) 434-6166 or to call Crime Stoppers at (423) 434-6158 to remain anonymous.

An active investigation is underway after a male body was reportedly located along the train tracks on State of Franklin Road near Interstate 26.

A medical examiner from ETSU’s William L. Jenkins Forensic Center was present on the scene, along with multiple emergency personnel.
