A Johnson City native and Daniel Boone High School graduate has been recognized for her outstanding performance aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Morgan Stout was named the ship’s 2018 Sailor of the Year.

In order to be named Sailor of the Year, sailors have to exhibit superior performance and personal conduct well above their peers.

“I am very proud to have been named Sailor of the Year,” Stout said in a statement. “We have such an outstanding crew that it means a lot to be recognized in this way.”

As an AEGIS fire controlman, Stout’s responsibilities include maintaining and operating the ship’s advanced combat system which consists of radars, computer networks, and missiles.

Stout was deployed to the Middle East on the USS Paul Hamilton in 2015.

She is a 2012 graduate of Daniel Boone High School.
