A Johnson City man is behind bars after police found loaded guns and prescription pills in his vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday.
Michael L. Metcalf, 39, is charged with two counts of a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, driving on a revoked license (2nd offense) and simple possession, according to a release from the Johnson City Police Department.
Around 3:35 p.m., officers saw a white male in a vehicle matching the description of a wanted individual.
An investigation revealed Metcalf had an outstanding warrant out of Washington County, TN.
While determining who owned the vehicle Metcalf was driving, investigators found a loaded .40 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat and a loaded .25 caliber handgun in the rear pocket of the passenger seat.
Officers also found an unmarked white plastic bottle containing prescription pills.
Metcalf was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $22,000 bond.
His is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. May 1.
