Johnson City leaders have approved a plan by BrightRidge to offer broadband and other services in addition to power.
The Johnson City Commission approved the plan unanimously during a meeting Thursday night.
BrightRidge wants to offer broadband, internet, telephone, and cable television service to its customers.
Now that city leaders have approved the $68 million project, the next step is to implement it.
BrightRidge says it will begin offering the new services in phases over the course of eight years.
