JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – UPDATE – The motorcyclist involved in a crash with an SUV on North Roan Street on Sunday night has died.
According to a release from the Johnson City Police Department, J.D. Nickels, 36, of Johnson City, succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Nickels was taken to Johnson City Medical Center following the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

A motorcyclist is said to be in critical condition after what police are calling a crash with serious injury.
According to a release from the Johnson City Police Department, officers responded to the crash site on North Roan Street just after 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
The release says the 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle was driving south on N Roan St. when it collided with a Chevrolet Suburban trying to turn left onto the street from Cambridgeshire Court.
The motorcyclist reportedly sustained serious injuries and was taken to Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
He is listed as being in critical condition.
The driver of the Suburban was not injured.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Johnson City Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team.
Johnson City Police are investigating a SUV vs. motorcycle crash on North Roan Street near the old Boones Creek Middle School.
Police on scene tell us the motorcyclist was transported to the hospital. No one in the SUV was injured.
Dispatch tells us the call came in just after 7 p.m.
