An Elizabethton man now faces felony charges after Johnson City officers say he reportedly hit a parked vehicle and nearly struck a bystander early Thursday morning.

According to the JCPD, Brandon L. Bowers, 28, now faces charges of reckless endangerment, failure to exercise due care, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

A narrative issued by the JCPD says officers responded to a crash in the parking lot at Tipton Street and Spring Street around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

According to police, a vehicle allegedly driven by Bowers reportedly hit a parked car “several times” in the parking lot.

Officers say that bystanders approached Bowers to check on him and to get him to stop driving. Bowers reportedly left the scene and nearly hit a person.

Police say no one was injured.

Minutes later, officers were able to find Bowers’ vehicle crashed at the intersection of South Broadway Street and Orleans Street.
