Johnson City Police have charged a man after he reportedly pointed a gun at a woman in a gas station parking lot and fled from police, initiating a car chase.

Officers were called to the Sunoco Gas Station on South Roan Street Monday night around 7:00 p.m.

A witness reported Gavin Muse, 20, pointed a gun at a woman in the parking lot. When JCPD arrived on scene, Muse took off in a car, nearly hitting officers and bystanders.

During the pursuit, Muse threw the gun and a backpack out of the car.

Officers stopped Muse on East Chestnut Street and took him into custody.

While searching the backpack thrown from the car, officers found 4.4 grams of cocaine. They also found brass knuckles in his pockets.

JCPD charged Muse with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and evading arrest, among several others.

Muse was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. He is being held on a $101,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court later today.
