UPDATE (3/4/2020) – Officials with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office have released the identity of a body that was found Tuesday near Cecil Vanhuss Road.
Joseph Lee Miller, 37, was found dead in a field at approximately 1 p.m. according to police.
Investigators said there were no “obvious signs of injury to his body and are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.”
Deputies found Miller’s vehicle off of Charity Hill Road on Tuesday morning, the release detailed. The vehicle was damaged and appeared to have been involved in a single-car accident.
The release indicated that investigators believe Miller left the scene of the accident and walked to where his body was found later that day.
CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Officials with the Carter County Sheriff’s office told News Channel 11 that the body of an unidentified male was found on Cecil Vanhuss Road, near H. Heaton Drive in Elizabethton.
Officials said that the body was a white male, and was found early Tuesday afternoon.
This is an active investigation, so details are limited.
No cause of death was immediately available.
