Investigation uncovers drug smuggling operation involving Red Onion prison staff


POUND, Va. (WJHL) — Corrections officials say an investigation has uncovered a drug-smuggling operation involving staff members at Red Onion State Prison.

Two corrections officers admitted to trafficking drugs and tobacco into the prison, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

No other information has been released.
