A home invasion on the 300 block of Ridgecrest Road was the cause of a David Crockett High School lockdown earlier today.
The home invasion occurred around six in the morning. Washington County Tennessee Sheriff Ed Graybeal confirms that a mother and her fourteen-year-old daughter were present at the time of the invasion. The mother shot at the intruder and missed. The bullet hit and went through the front window. The intruder also fled through that window.
“The mother came out in the hallway and found this person in the hallway,” Sheriff Graybeal said. “She fired a round at him but of course it when through the window and missed him.”
Neighbors, who have lived in the area for years, are shocked at this incident. They claim that their community is a safe area.
“We are absolutely shocked,” said Eva Cambareri, a neighbor.” Never heard anything. Like I said its just a peaceful county community.”
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office contacted David Crockett High School about the home invasion and the school decided to go into a soft lockdown. There was no harm towards any student and the lockdown was lifted shortly before 10 am.
Officers have conducted an extensive search of the area utilizing K-9’s and lost trail near another part of Ridgecrest Road. The intruder is described as a tall, thin male with a deep voice wearing a green hoodie and black pants.
