Holston Army Ammunition restarts production after explosion

Local

Officials at BAE Systems said production at Holston Army Ammunition Plant is on track to resume.

According to a statement from BAE Systems communications manager Christopher Finley, the facility will begin a “staggered restart” of production today nearly three weeks after an explosion rocked the facility and nearby neighborhoods.

The plant  has manufactured explosives for the U.S. Department of Defense for decades, and the Army sometimes regulates controlled burns to dispose of hazardous waste.

Finley said the investigation into the incident continues.
