Hawkins County man arrested after found sleeping in stranger’s home

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)- A Hawkins County man was arrested Tuesday after a caller told police an unknown man was sleeping inside their home which was being renovated.

Deputies responded to the home on Stanley Valley Road where they found 31-year-old Michael McPeek inside.

According to a police report, when deputies asked McPeek why he was inside that home he said, “he was cold last night and came into the home to sleep became it was warmer.”

McPeek also told deputies he “slept in the back bedroom where the heater was.”

When McPeek was arrested deputies said in the report that he was wearing “minimal clothing.” 

Michael McPeek was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
