The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an overnight shooting from Monday.
According to investigators, deputies responded to an area of Bear Hollow Road around 8 p.m. on the call for a gunshot victim.
Deputies say they discovered Claude “Junior” West suffering from what was reported as three gunshot wounds to his body.
West was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center where his condition remains unknown at this time.
Officials with GCSD say that West was the “primary aggressor in a domestic disturbance” at his home following an investigation.
According to a police report, West fought with a family member at the home.
Other family members that were in the home at the time, including two kids, escaped to a vehicle that was parked just outside the home.
According to investigators, West confronted the family members outside at which time he brandished a shotgun.
When West shot at the family, deputies say that one of the victims returned fire with a handgun, striking West.
Charges are pending at this time against West.
