Greene County Sheriff’s Department recruits new K-9 named ‘Boomer’

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)- Officials at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department have added a new member to their team.

Boomer is a NAPWDA certified explosives detection and tracking K-9.

He is a 15-month-old lab who will be working with school resource officer Wayne Wilhoit.

While Boomer will be assigned to Wilhoit, he will also be available to assist in search and rescue efforts.

Officials at the sheriff’s department said Boomer and his training are free under a GI Bill.

Boomer graduated April 5 and will now be the 6th K-9 for the department.
