GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Greene County officials are investigating after a shooting left a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg, according to the county’s sheriff.
According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD), deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Old Baileyton Road around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, the release said officers found a woman with a gunshot wound on her leg.
The assailant had already fled the scene, the report said, and she required an airlift to Johnson City Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Wednesday morning, Greene County dispatch confirmed that the suspect, identified as John Jacob “Dylan” Waldrop, of Old Baileyton Road, turned himself in and is in custody. Deputies had previously considered him armed and dangerous.
Waldrop faces aggravated domestic assault charges. No further details have been released at this time.
