ETSU students express their views on ‘hot topics’ through art

Everyone has a stance of what they consider “hot topics” in society. 

At East Tennessee State University, one professor let us students express their views with a protesting painting class.” 

Students took to their canvas, expressing a topic that mattered to them. 

“We know there is a lot of frustration and anger, particularly with younger people today addressing the political situation,” said Christian Rieben, a visiting assistant professor. “People seem to want to do something about it and this is one-way artists can do something about it.” 

Topics included health care, immigration and back lung disease.
