The man charged with aggravated rape on the East Tennessee State University campus has entered a not guilty plea.

David Creech appeared in court this morning in Washington County and entered the plea for charges of aggravated rape, attempted aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and criminal exposure from the February 24 incident.

During the hearing, Creech said he just got out of prison four months ago. Creech was also appointed a public defender.

A search warrant filed on February 26 by Det. Jennifer Mayberry of the ETSU Dept. of Public Safety said Creech fit the description of the suspect.

The victim told police she was held at knifepoint by the suspect, now identified as Creech, and forced to perform oral sex on the suspect. The victim told officers she bit the suspect in the groin area, in an attempt to escape. However, the suspect caught the victim again. Creech is accused of then beating the victim in the head and face.
