The Elizabethton Police Department hopes to reduce crime by launching a new crime-fighting app allowing residents to view alerts, submit anonymous tips and more.

The ‘Elizabethton PD App’ is available for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Elizabethton Police Department website.

The app allows the public and police to share information back and forth anonymously.

“Preventing crime is our first operational priority as we work from a community-based philosophy of policing,” said Chief of Police Jason Shaw. “Working together, we are more likely to make lasting improvements in our quality of life and I believe the new Elizabethton PD app from tip411 will help make it safer and easier for residents to share information with us to increase safety in our community.”

Elizabethton residents without a smartphone are still able to send anonymous texts tips by texting keyword ‘TIPEPD’ TO 847411.
