The plan was set. Sara Dunford was going to get her engineering degree and go into construction.
A funny thing happened along the way. She learned she loved children and loved to teach and the rest, as they say, is history
Dunford teaches all subjects to her first graders at Eastside. On this day her 18 students and working hard on English and Language Arts. She’s spent her entire 16-year career in Elizabethton.
In fact, she’s a graduate of Happy Valley high school. She says she loves being able to have an impact on the community she grew up in and she quickly adds she loves the younger students and being able to have a positive impact on them.
“I love the younger ones. The first graders are excited to be here every day. They are excited to be at school, to learn, and see their friends. I love their love of school. It keeps me going every day, ” said Dunford.
