Deborah Tipton graduated from North Greene High School. She started teaching after college and has been at the head of the class now for 32 years. The last 19 of those years have been at Debusk Elementary school in Greene County.
She’s currently the 1st-grade teacher at DeBusk Elementary School. She Teaches all subjects. On
this day it’s a math lesson.
Tipton says she loves watching the children progress during the school year. Tipton says a lot has changed in her three decades in the classroom, now it’s about preparing the students for the future. No matter the demands and no matter the curriculum the secret to Tipton’s success over her long career is her love of each individual student.
“I learn what you like. I would find out what you like. What makes you tick. Then I’m going to learn about that. Then I’m going to bring that in so you can read about it. So it’s going to be about what makes you tick. I try to learn about the whole child,” said Tipton
