Deputies search for suspect after home invasion near David Crockett High

Deputies in Washington County, TN are searching for a home invasion suspect who tried to rob a homeowner in Jonesborough. 

The incident prompted a “soft lockdown” this morning at David Crockett High School. 

According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal, home invasion happened around 6:17 a.m .in the 300 block of Ridgecrest Road. Deputies say an unknown armed man entered the home, but he was confronted by the female homeowner who fired a shot at the suspect. The sheriff’s office says the suspect escaped.  

The homeowner said the suspect crawled through a window of the home and left out the same window after she shot at him. 

The suspect is described as a tall, thin, male with a deep voice. He was wearing a green hoodie, possibly with orange drawstring, and black pants.

Deputies said they search the area with K9s, but the trail was lost near another part of Ridgecrest Road.
