JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) — Work continues on the second planned Johnson City location for family-owned restaurant chain Cootie Brown’s.

The Vella family purchased the property on North State of Franklin, known as Lot 8, and construction on the restaurant has been ongoing for more than a year.

Management tells News Channel 11 that an opening date for the restaurant has not been set, but once the building is complete, it will take roughly one to two months to hire employees and get them trained.

The restaurant, known for its famous Key Lime pie serves a variety of dishes including burgers, pizza, and other dishes.

When we spoke to Cootie Brown’s CEO, Tony Vella in 2017 he said after the restaurant on State of Franklin Road is complete, Cootie Brown’s will look at expanding to other locations, naming cities like Kingsport, Asheville and even Knoxville as possibilities.
