Carter County Sheriff’s Office investigating after human remains found

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were found Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Dexter Lunceford says the remains were found around 3 p.m. in a wooded area about 200 yards off Southside Road.

The remains have been transported to the Quillen College of Medicine for identification and an autopsy, according to Lunceford.
