With a new school year comes new school policies.

Carter County Tennessee Schools will begin implementing a new clear or mesh backpack policy for all students that attend school in Carter County.

The policy came to light after school shootings in Florida that led county leaders to come up with a way to make it safer for students and faculty at county schools

Director of Schools Dr. Kevin Ward said if a student shows up without a clear/mesh they will be brought to the office and the backpack will be left at the office and the parent/guardian will be called and asked to come and pick the back pack up.

Classes in Carter County begin on August 13th.
