BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) — After more than two years of negotiations, Southwest Virginia-based Sunset Digital Communications finalized the purchase of the assets and service network of BVU’s OptiNet broadband division.

Today’s closing is the culmination of over two years to close the transaction first agreed to on February 5, 2016, according to a news release from Sunset Digital Communications.

“This was a difficult journey and we truly appreciate the effort and support of everyone,” said Paul Elswick, co-founder of Sunset Digital. “We have an outstanding partner in the entire ITC Capital Partners family, many of whom have already spent a great deal of time on site helping with the transition.”

Sunset noted that their goal is to make the transition as seamless as possible for customers, who will still be receiving services from the same team of people they always have. Elswick noted that there will be no increases in costs, “Their bill will remain the same,” he added.

“We’re glad to finalize the acquisition of the OptiNet service network,” Elswick stated. “We are looking forward to moving forward with growing a vibrant broadband network to service schools, government agencies, businesses and residents across the region in hte combined territory that will stretch from the Cumberland Plateau region to Upper East Tennessee.”
