BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – A Monday morning power outage affected more than 12,000 Bristol Tennessee Essential Services customers.
According to a post from Bristol Tennessee Essential Services, the outage was caused due to a failed transmission line from South Holston Dam.
BTES said the transmission line was lost from the Tennessee Valley Authority at 7:15 a.m., which led to 7,407 customers losing power. The Shelby Street substation lost transmission at 8:06 a.m., which caused the remaining 5,001 customers to lose power.
Power was restored at 9:15 a.m. to all customers except for one small transformer.
BTES is investigating to determine the exact cause.
