A police officer recently went out of her way to make sure a disabled man was taken care of.

Officers responded to an apartment complex on Oakview Avenue back on March 16 to check on the man.

The man told officers he didn’t have any food and hadn’t eaten in some time.

Police say the only food in the kitchen was a box of pancake mix.

So, Sgt. Wendy Brewer turned on the stove, got a skillet, and made pancakes for the man. She made enough for him to eat through the next morning when social service workers were supposed to stop by to take care of his needs.

On Facebook, the police department thanked Sgt. Brewer “for thinking ‘outside the box’ in going above and beyond to take care of this citizen. “
